After the recent renewal of the Yamaha MT-03, it is now the turn of his younger sister, the MT-125. As in it, it receives a series of improvements and aesthetic changes that bring it much closer to the style and philosophy marked by the eldest of the family , resulting in a 125cc that looks much more transgressive and sophisticated. The most radical change is found in its front part, occupied exactly by the same optics that we can see in the MT03 2020 , characterized by its two biased double position lights and a compact LED headlight just below them.

After this, as the main change in the standard equipment, a new instrument cluster of LCD type has been placed , whose main originality is that it has a negative design; much clearer, seen and modern than the previous one. It does not lack a very complete level of information , since among its compact forms we will have a digital odometer in the center, a tachometer with bar graph, two partial distance meters, a partial fuel reserve counter and a clock, as well as indicators of current and average fuel consumption, average speed and a welcome screen.

The body is completely new, with the characteristic MT style that has a much more bulky front part than the rear. The fibers that flank the tank and the radiator, as well as the headlight mask, are brand new . The same happens with the seat that becomes a two-piece two-level sports type, a solidarity set that groups the driver's and passenger's passenger compartments in a single-piece format.

All this has also been used to improve the new MT-125 ergonomically, for which the footrests have also been advanced, raised the handlebars and reduced the fuel tank (10 liters), which gives rise to a position driving much more spacious and a little more upright; what has been an almost exact replica of what we can see in the Yamaha MT09.

One of the most significant and important changes of this new MT-125 is its new generation engine. One of the most technologically advanced and efficient mechanics in the category, due to the integration of the VVA system of variable distribution valves - already seen at the beginning of the year in the YZF-R125 -, and its new 4-valve cylinder head. Thanks to it, the MT-125 has to offer a linear and constant response throughout the entire speed range, making the most of its 15 horsepower and even extending the rotation regime by 1,000 rpm more for the high part.

This has to give the MT girl a totally new character , with a more functional and easy behavior, as kind by city as effective and fun on the road. Improving and facilitating their driving to first-time drivers who, as if that were not enough, will also feature delicacies such as the new A&S anti-rebound clutch , a component that results in a much more fluid, stable and safe driving, especially time to go down to the beast in the rush of braking.

the new mechanical characteristics and the logical increase in performance, consequently, Yamaha has decided to modify some elements of the cycle part. The main one is the new double beam steel chassis of the Deltabox family which, together with the new aluminum swingarm , varies aspects such as a 30 mm shorter wheelbase (1,325 mm), steering geometry and better mass centralization, all this, in pursuit of a more sporty, agile and exciting driving.

Likewise, the new swingarm has also been used to equip a wider rear tire, specifically one more measure (140 mm) , which will be mounted on a 17-inch tire. Therefore, together with this change, the most relevant aspects at the cycle level of the new MT-125 will become its powerful 41/130 mm inverted fork in suspensions, and, in brakes, the 4- radial front anchor clamp pistons that accompanies a 292 mm disc.
