Yamaha SR500 Cafe Racer - SR 500 Custom
Yamaha SR500
When Yamaha launched the SR500 in 1978, they played well with the nostalgic feelings of their customers. Well-known British brands such as Norton, Velocette or BSA had fallen into disrepair by then, in part due to the arrival of faster and more modern Japanese rowers.
And when the SR500 appeared from the same Japanese with a 500 cc thresher and a characteristic sound reminiscent of the extinct British, then there was a real boom - motorcycle sales exceeded all expectations.

The bike sold well in Japan and Germany, and even in the USA. The SR500 model was produced right up to 1999, and gave rise to such Yamaha models as the SR400, SRX600 and the more famous today XT600, XTZ 660 and XTX 660.

The Yamaha SR500 has survived to this day, but mostly in the form of custom - made from a motorcycle good cafe raiders, less radical street trackers and more imposing bobbers. I propose to take a look at several tuning options for this unit, including from Mark D. (Marc D.) who actively helps everyone with advice on restoring and tuning the SR500. Mark has groups on Facebook and Yahoo, as well as a blog, where he talks in detail about building his cafe racer. This video clip, created by him, deserves special attention.
