1969 Yamaha YAS1 First Yamaha Double Cylinder Bike

Yamaha unveiled his first motorcycle in 1955. It was the YA1, a two-stroke 123cc single-cylinder engine heavily influenced by the pre-war DKW RT125. The foundations for Yamaha's sporting tradition were soon established when YA1s won the prestigious races on Mount Fuji and Asama that same year.

Yamaha's first two-cylinder model in the 125cc category came in 1969 in the form of the YAS1 Sport Roadster, a development of the YL1 100cc. With 15bhp at the tap, the five-speed YAS1 was as fast as many Brits 250S, and owners soon used its potential for racing.

Exported to Ireland and reimported in 1995, this Yamaha was bought in May 2017 and used sparingly because of the owner's poor health. The machine is offered with a file containing a dating letter, dry bills, correspondence DVLA, words and a V5C.
