It is ironic that everyday motorcycles can sometimes become more rare products than better exotics. These wheels were used for their intended use and had a relatively short lifespan, and the scrap rate was high.

Not that some are not worth saving. In a class dominated by the ride-to-work bike, the Yamaha sports RD200 appealed to commuters who had decided to have fun on their way to the Office.

Like all two-stroke Yamaha branches, the RD200 was a willing interpreter whose 22PS could propel the lightweight agile to more than 85km/. Precise and predictable maneuverability and strong brakes were just a few of his strengths. The British cycling magazine said at the time:  "the RD is happy to cruise at 60 to 70 km/h all day. "

The Yamaha RD200 has been a development of the CS3, a two-stroke 180cc with modern equipment such as oil injection from the top car space meter and a handy electric starter. In 1972, the engine increased to 195cc and the model name was changed to CS5E, with all the style resembling the new RD series model. Up to 1974, with torque induction Reed valves for cylinders, the undeniably pretty bike took  "full citizenship " status and became the RD200.

In a recent retrospective article, motorcycle classics summarizes the significant technological advantages of the RD2: "compared to the RD250, the 200 with a seat height of only 29.5 mm to 50lb was lighter and also physically smaller. And a 49in. footing. Still, there were a lot of great bike features.

Inside the 195cc, the 180-degree two-stroke was a four-stage crankshaft with a conifer roller valve flap and a large Rod bearing. The lubrication was made by Yamaha's car repair system, which was powered by a pair of Teikei 20mm Carburetors with the fuel/air load pulling through the four-blade Reed valves.

The primary helical gearbox has led to a wet clutch and a five-speed gearbox. The electrical unit included a 12 volt DC starter motor combined to start the button, although the Kickstarter was retained. Interestingly, none of the other RD models had an electric start.  "

Out of the list of 1975 by stable marble engines, this RD200 is twice as rare as it is both an example of low mileage and not restored. Light, Horn, electric starter, etc. all functions, with only a small notch in the left exhaust pipe and some nicks in the original color high spark blue, which gives an indication of the real age of the motorcycle. In marble's care, the RD replaced new tires, a fresh battery, plus a few smaller service items.
