In 1981, Yamaha LAUNCHED the SR250. Previously, a Model called Exciter was manufactured In the US between 1980 and 1982, which was virtually identical to the SR250. Manufactured in Spain in 1983, it was a Sales Market leader for several Years, reaching around 6000 Units a Year in 1990 and 1991. It was sold in two Versions, one called  "Standard " or  "Classic " style  "Cruise " and  "Special " with the highest Handlebar style  "Chopper ," Seat at two Heights and distinctive Emblems. The Sale Price ranged from €1,800 in 1983 to €3,125 in 2002.
