Yamaha XJ1100 Maxim Best Performance Specs

1982 was the last year of production of the impressive Yamaha XJ 1100, also known as Yamaha Maxim 1100. While this large lift wheel was one of the first attempts by a Japanese manufacturer to mimic the American Cruiser Harley-Davidson, it packed some great performance surprises as well as the reliability observed on motorcycles. Not seen American.

XJ1100 Engine

At first glance, the Yamaha Maxim 1100 looked like a cruiser, and it was: But it was adapted by sports bikes, not other cruisers. The maxim actually moves 1101 CC with a 7.5xcc hole, a 68.6 cm3 hub and a modest compression ratio for a motorcycle 9.0-to-1.

Yamaha XJ1100 Performance

While the seat and curved handle bars of the Yamaha Maxim 1100 had more in common with a relaxed chopper, the seat position was actually neutral, like that of the Yamaha SECA sports line that shared the XJ badge. The vertical position gave the driver better control.

The XJ had good stopping power with two front brakes and a single disc at the back. The front forks were somewhat misleading; While the handlebars and forks were both slightly larger than the Seca, they had no relaxed angle or  "rake " of most crusaders, giving them a slow direction. They also used an air support system that made for a smooth ride.

Yamaha XJ1100 Power weight

With a dry weight without fuel, lubricants or liquids of 560 pounds, the Yamaha Maxim 1100 was not an easy bike. Compared to the 782-pound Harley FLT, which makes 70bhp, the XJ 1100 had an enormous power-to-weight ratio for a cruiser bike and impressive acceleration.

The performance was delivered to the rear wheel by a wave drive, giving the maxima a strange elevator connected to a wave drive motor wheel, but it was an idiosyncrasy of the bike rather than a disadvantage as it was not for the circuit Arranged.

Yamaha XJ1100 Maxim Top Speed

There's no more Official Data/information About Maxim XJ1100 Top speed. But it's discussed in a Yamaha XJ/XS Forum. Somebody named DiverRay that he also become the moderator in that forum Said That Yamaha XJ1100 Top speed can be around 135 MPH. maybe 125 MPH is the lower third of Top Speed that Maxim XJ1100 Can reach.

In 1980 ALL speedometers had an 85 MPH max. That was the era of the 55 MPH national speed limit. The bikes will do about 135 MPH, in perfect tune down a slight hill. 125MPH is an easy number to reach with about any XS/XJ1100.
I can cruise all day at 85, and the bike is happy. I can ALSO cruise at 110 all day, but it's hard on ME!
