Yamaha Stryker XVS1300 Specification

Yamaha Stryker XVS1300

Another new Yamaha in the cruiser family is a direct competitor to Harley-Davidson serial custom. In America, Yamaha XVS1300 are successfully hit the market.

Yamaha XVS1300CU Stryker is a cross between a chopper and a cruiser, made in the fashionable long & low style today. A thick rear tank, a lowered tail with tilted backs to the ground  , a forward fork and a 21-inch front  wheel create a swift look. Some details, for example, a  “glass” of devices or an overlay on a gas tank, resemble the ribbing of a revolving drum and give the motorcycle brutality, hinting that the “flying” design is not without purpose, but imitates the flight of a bullet. Yes, and a little match: Stryker - the name of the American wheeled combat armored vehicles, and the word striker means small arms striker - all in theme.

Low "glove" landing - during riding it is not possible to tear on the saddle, it rigidly fixes the driver in one position. Feet forward, steering wheel back, complex face - a classic of the genre. The suspension is stiff, not cruising at all - you feel the roughness of the road for a boot. But the weight distribution (almost ideal 60x40) and handling turned out to be more adequate than that of many classmates: even in traffic jams on this device you can move quite successfully without spending a lot of effort on this.

The modernized "water" V-twin with a volume of 1304 cm3 capacity of only 72 liters. With., but issuing 103 Nm of torque, provides stable traction from the bottom and confident acceleration from any gear. I can’t say that the device starts off like a fired bullet  (environmental standards come to the throat of his song), but the overall  rigidity, density and relative compactness of the chassis give  Stryker its own recognizable character.

On the track, this gorgeous cruiser behaves perfectly, it is stable and predictable, it even has brakes (in the sense, effective), which is rare for this class (but, perhaps, the ABS on modern motorcycles should still be in the "base"). But going all day on the Stryker will be less comfortable than on its specially made for traveling smooth gathering Yamaha Midnight Star. But at short distances, Stryker will definitely win in playfulness and style.

It could be called a cafe-racer from cruisers: take a breeze along an empty straight wide street, hang out in a bar, hang out with friends ... A beautiful picture, but real, perhaps, only in the USA, for which it was created (like that the same “Breakout”), with their one-story square cities spread out over a huge area, you can get to any point of them by  making only one turn along the way.

We have no obvious place for this type of motorcycle. The Stryker will have to look for him. It seems to me that he has a chance, at least from the side, at least by the edge, but to occupy the empty niche of “one  motorcycle for all occasions”: he can in any way even on traffic jams and on a long trip you feel pretty well on him (although, of course , a tank of 15 liters is not enough), and if the road is good, then in general. Who knows...
