Yamaha XJ 600 Cafe Racer Modification
The idea to convert a Yamaha XJ 600 into cafe racer I had for some time. At first I thought of an XJ650 which my father owned for 25 years. But my first thoughts in the direction of an XJ650 conversion, I have discarded due to shaft drive and the stereo legs again. In addition, the driving behavior of the Yamaha had not promised me at all.
Then there was a Yamaha XJR1200 or XJR1300 in the room for a while, because the engine of the XJR is visually and also from the torque of a force. Unfortunately, the 260 kg bike is quite heavy and also has stereo leather legs, which I do not like visually on a newer bike.
So in the Yamaha Regal not many motorcycle models are to be found, which have installed an air / oil cooled engine, a chain and a central strut and in addition have a rear disc brake! Exactly there remains only the XJ600 51J, which was intended by Yamaha at the time as a "Supersport" motorcycle.

The engine power of 73 hp, I find for a two-valve engine with 600 cc displacement also very appealing. After all, the speed-hungry inline four-cylinder reaches an outstanding liter output of 122 hp and is considered thermally stable. What more do you want!?
